The Basement East sits 917 feet down Woodland Street from The Eighteen. That’s a half-mile walk, or about ten minutes at the pace you walk when you know parking isn’t a problem.
It’s the room locals call The Beast, and it’s the reason to book your stay around a show instead of the other way around.
September is stacked. The first two weeks are the usual touring-act run: David Nail on August 29, Ben Quad on September 3, the Emo Night Tour on September 4. Then AmericanaFest week lands and the calendar goes double-time.
The biggest week in Americana music happens citywide, but The Beast hosts three of the festival’s anchor showcases. These are full-evening, multi-act bills—the kind where you arrive for the opener and stay until close.
Wednesday, September 17: Shakey Graves, Houndmouth, Futurebirds, Langhorne Slim, The Brook & The Bluff, Abraham Alexander, and Aubory Bugg. Doors at 6, first act at 7. This is the one to clear your evening for.
Thursday, September 18: Wynonna Judd & Friends, featuring Avi Kaplan. Doors at 6, show at 7.
Friday, September 19: Lilly Hiatt, Parker Millsap, Julia Barfield, and Hunter Flynn close out the AmericanaFest run. Doors at 6.

Before the festival lands, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals play two nights at The Beast. September 15 is already sold out as of August 27. September 14 still has tickets, but if Harper’s your reason to be here that week, don’t wait.
The whole advantage of staying at The Eighteen during a show week is that the show is walkable. No rideshare surge at midnight, no circling for parking, no negotiating who’s driving. The headliner finishes, you walk Woodland Street home, your car never leaves the lot.
In a neighborhood where street parking is rumor and paid lots fill by 8 PM, this is the entire value proposition.

Buy tickets in advance. Walk-up availability is a coin flip for anything with buzz. Ticketing runs through TicketWeb.
It’s standing room. Get there early if you want a spot at the rail. Doors are usually 7 PM for an 8 PM show; openers are worth catching.
Eat first. Five Points Pizza or The Pharmacy before, Attaboy next door after. None of it requires getting in a car.
